Not Sure Which Structure Fits? Custom Box Design Is Our Job.

The right box depends on your products’ weight, fragility, retail context, and unboxing moment. Custom box design starts there: our team recommends a structure — or we create custom geometry when none of the sixteen fit — sets the dimensions against what actually goes inside, then models it in 3D, and builds a physical prototype you can hold before committing to an order. Finishes — embossing, debossing, spot UV, lamination coatings, and matte, gloss, or satin coatings — are proofed the same way, so what the press prints matches what your customers open.

Need bags, displays, or shippers alongside your custom boxes? Explore retail bags, POP displays, shippers, and mailers — or keep the whole custom packaging program under one quote, one print standard, and one shipping schedule.

Choosing Between Custom Box Structures

Some loads are too tall, irregular, or heavy for a folded top flap to make sense. For those, we craft half-slotted boxes with flaps on one end only, closed afterward with a cap, pad, or stretch wrap once the load is palletized.

A two-piece construction — a lid that slides fully or partially over a separate base — adds a slower, more deliberate opening motion than a one-piece carton. This pairs naturally with telescope boxes for jewelry, spirits, and gift sets where the reveal matters.

Custom Box and Packaging Questions

What’s the difference between a custom box and a stock box?+

A stock box comes in a fixed set of pre-made sizes; custom boxes are built to your products’ exact box dimensions, print, and material spec. Stock sizes ship faster off a shelf, but custom designed boxes eliminate the wasted space, the extra void fill, and the generic look that come with forcing a product into a size built for something else. That difference shows up twice: once in what shipping costs per parcel, and once in what customers see when the box arrives.

How do I know which box format is right for my products?+

It comes down to three questions: how the products ship (parcel, freight, or pallet), where customers first see them (retail shelf, doorstep, or in-store), and whether presentation matters as much as protection. Tell us those three things, plus your quantity, and we can usually narrow the formats above to one or two worth prototyping — which makes the box design conversation a great deal shorter.

Can I get a physical prototype before committing to a production run?+

Yes. Because design, cutting, and printing all happen in New York City, we can turn a dieline into a physical prototype before you commit to a full order, so you’re approving an actual sample rather than a rendering. It is also the cheapest place to change your mind: a box design edit on a prototype costs nothing, while the same change after a print run makes the whole order a reprint.

Can you print custom boxes with our logo, and do you handle wholesale quantities?+

Yes to both. Every structure on this page can be custom printed with your logo and artwork, and because the boxes are made to order rather than pulled from stock, the same spec works for a small business first run or a wholesale quantity. Send your dimensions and quantity together and we’ll quote the custom packaging boxes, the print, and the shipping in one number.

Can you create custom boxes in corrugated cardboard as well as rigid board?+

Yes. We create custom boxes in single- and double-wall corrugated cardboard for shipping and retail-ready formats, in folding carton board for shelf packaging, and in rigid chipboard for luxury sets. Corrugated boxes carry the load and the print; rigid carries the perceived value. Tell us what the products weigh and where they ship, and we’ll spec the corrugated cardboard grade or board weight that makes the run work.
